Summary of Crime and Punishment:

                Part 1:

                     The setting is Russia during the 1860s. During a hot July in Saint Petersburg, Raskolnikov, a devastated understudy, designs wrongdoing. In the arrangement, he visits Alyona, a voracious pawnbroker, and remembers where she keeps her cash. Later he meets Marmeladov, a previous assistant, and his ruined family.

             Marmeladov's liquor addiction has constrained his most seasoned girl, Sonia, into prostitution to help them. The following day Raskolnikov peruses a letter from his mom, Pulcheria. His sister, Dounia, has endured a close to embarrassment subsequent to declining the advances of her manager, Svidrigaïlov. Dounia plans to wed Luzhin, a rich attorney, to help her family. Pulcheria and Dounia will visit Raskolnikov soon. 

            Raskolnikov attempts to help an intoxicated young lady on the road. Later he turns out to be sick and dreams about a man pounding the life out of his pony. Raskolnikov falters about ransacking and killing Alyona. He chooses to do it whenever he finds by chance that she will be home alone. A flashback uncovers how Raskolnikov caught an understudy discussing how Alyona's demise would help others, affirming Raskolnikov's sentiments. Raskolnikov kills the pawnbroker with a hatchet and burglarizes her, then, at that point, kills Alyona's half-sister, Lizaveta, who shows up suddenly. He lucks out and escapes without being seen.

Part 2:

            Sonia visits Raskolnikov to say thanks to him for the cash he gave her family. Raskolnikov acquaints her with his family. To ease doubt, Raskolnikov meets with Porfiry, a police specialist, to report that he pawned things with Alyona. Porfiry makes reference to an article in Raskolnikov expounded on how "remarkable men" are permitted to violate moral limits without discipline. Coming back, a more odd calls Raskolnikov a killer, startling him.

Part 4: 

         Svidrigaïlov visits Raskolnikov. He needs to give Dounia cash as a statement of regret, yet Raskolnikov is dubious. Svidrigaïlov depicts his debased past and upset marriage. He uncovers that his as of late expired spouse has left Dounia cash. 

                Raskolnikov and his family reveal a lie about Raskolnikov and Sonia that Luzhin wrote in a letter to Dounia. Dounia breaks her commitment. Tormented by his wrongdoing, Raskolnikov breaks with his family, leaving them in Razumihin's consideration. 
            Raskolnikov visits Sonia, accepting she gets him. She peruses him about Lazarus. He finds that Sonia knew Lizaveta. The following morning Raskolnikov visits Porfiry. Out of nowhere another man admits to the homicides. Later Raskolnikov again meets the one who called him a killer. The man apologizes, saying he made hasty judgments.

Part 5: 

         Luzhin plots retribution against Raskolnikov, establishing cash on Sonia to make her resemble a hoodlum. At the point when he attempts to capture her at Marmeladov's memorial service supper, Lebeziatnikov, a neighbor, says he saw Luzhin plant the cash. Raskolnikov at long last admits his wrongdoing to Sonia. 

            She is stunned however treats him humanely. She urges him to kiss the ground, admit, and be reclaimed. The Marmeladovs are ousted and become destitute. Katerina Ivanovna flips out, then, at that point, passes on from tuberculosis. Svidrigaïlov offers to help her kids monetarily. He lets Raskolnikov know that he has caught his admission to Sonia.

Part 6: 

         Porfiry tells Raskolnikov he realizes he is the killer yet can't demonstrate it. He allows him two days to admit prior to capturing him. Raskolnikov meets Svidrigaïlov, whose accounts uncover he is a sexual stalker. He has another youthful life partner, so he guarantees no interest in Dounia, however, Raskolnikov is suspicious.

         Svidrigaïlov baits Dounia to his condo and secures her. He utilizes Raskolnikov's wrongdoing to physically extortion her, then, at that point, takes steps to assault her. Dounia attempts to fire him, yet her weapon fizzles. Svidrigaïlov inquires as to whether Dounia can cherish him, and she says no. He releases her yet keeps the weapon. 

                Svidrigaïlov gives cash to Sonia's family and to his life partner. He looks into an inn. He can't eat and has horrendous dreams. The following morning he shoots himself. The following day Raskolnikov bids farewell to his family. Sonia gives him her cross, and afterward, he leaves for the police. On the manner in which he kneels and kisses the ground elatedly. 
                He sees that Sonia has followed him. At the station, he learns of Svidrigaïlov's passing. Stunned, he chooses not to admit it. In any case, as he leaves, he sees Sonia pausing. He gets back to the police and makes his admission.

Epilogue, Chapters 1–2: 

            After nine months Raskolnikov goes to jail in Siberia for a considerable length of time. Sonia follows him. He actually won't concede that what he did was wrongdoing and stays distanced. Sonia continues on, visiting him routinely. Later a major ailment, he understands he adores Sonia and is reawakened into another life.
